Wahoo pilots quiz time!
Ok guys, shoot me an aviation topic and I'll ask the question. We'll see who gets it right the fastest. The winner gets a Braniff Piper Cub (Yellow)

Well that's not a topic, that's a question. Silly!
So anyone? What is the rest requirement for a flag carrier operating a 13 hour flight?

Ok Cap! Here is a question.
Stump da Wahoo!! How does a captian caculate the decent rate ratio while on visual approach to a runway (without ILS) that is 50 miles away?

The descent during the final leg is typically flown at 1.3 times the stall speed of the aircraft, and usually with the flaps extended. Large "airline" (transport) type aircraft, are flown on a 3 degree slope or glidepath. Smaller light aircraft will typically be flown on a 4 to 6 degree glidepath. Typical power settings are 3/4 full power. The rate of descent typically ranges from approximately 300 feet per minute for light aircraft to 700 ft/min for transport category.

Does this runway have a PAPI or VASI?

Also depends on the speed of the aircraft and altitude you're at. If you're low and slow you don't have to come down till you're right on top of the airport. If you're fast and high, better start down soon.

How about that rest requirement question? Ummm, let's see, for a flag carrier a flight crew must get twice the number of hours flown of unadulterated rest. Adn I believe for a 13 hour flight there has to be a 2nd crew on board and sleep facilities on board.
PAPI is Precision approach path indicator which is basically a 3 degree glide path and a VASI is visual approach slope indicator. They are basically the same thing just a different set up of lights. PAPI uses 4 lights in a horizontal fashion with 2 on and 2 off as being on glide slope. VASI has 2 or 3 bars of white and red lights. A set of white and red means you're on glide slope, 2 sets of red, you're dead, just kidding, you're below 2 white and you're above. Right Kardar?

Oh METAR's! That is something relatively new for me. They didn't have those when I flew for Eagle, but they did when I flew for CSA Air. I will do my best. Here goes...KBDL 122150Z (Windsor Locks Bradley International 12th day 21:50 Zulu) 08020G38KT (Winds 080 at 20 kts gusting to 38 kts) 1/2SM (tower visibility one half statute mile) R33/2400FT (Runway visual range for rnwy 33 2400 ft) +TSRA (Heavy thundershowers) SCT008 OVC012CB (800 feet scattered 1200 feet overcast cumulonimbus overhead) 20/18 (Temperature 20 degrees celsius dew point 18 degrees celsius) A2995 (Altimeter 29.95) RMK TSB24RAB24 SLP134 (Remarks Thunderstorm began at 24 minutes past the hour rain began 24 minutes past the hour sea level pressure 1013.4 milibars)
The answer to heavy D's question I believe is twice the number of hours he flew since his last rest period at his base.
