D', go to the principal's office with 27L please.

Ok guys, turn in your certificates to me now. Tell me what kind of certificate's you's guys have. i.e. Private, instrument, etc... And what do you want to do with them, fly for pleasure, career, etc.

I want to ask you guys questions that may help you in your flying careers if that's what you want. It may even save your life. Asking each other about flap settings on a 727 is more or less aviation fun facts, but it won't do a thing for you if you get caught in freezing rain in a C208B, like I did.

So my question is about the weather in Escanaba, MI. Look back 15 posts to answer this compelling problem. The correct answer will be posted on Jan 2nd.

I'm just trying to help!

I am the holder of certificate no. 3103712...Private Pilot, Airplane Single-Engine Land. Just received my card the other day too!

I plan to work my way up to ATP, starting with Instrument, then Commercial, then Multi. Someday I hope to be an airine pilot.

Thanks for your assistance Wahoo!!

Hey Richie, congrats on getting your ticket! You didn't need to give me your certificate #!

Once I got my private I immediately got my complex sign off on a C206, got my multi with only 100 hours, then went instrument (That was a hard one!), then did my commercial SMEL. Commercial is probably the easiest to get, multi or single. Then I got my CFI SMEL. Never did get my double "I". When you're a CFI is when you really learn about flying. Get you Basic and Advanced ground instructor rating. All it is is taking a written test. Take it before your CFI written. As far as an ATP goes, let the company you work for buy it for you. American Eagle was kind enough to get me my ATP with an ATR 42 type. I couldn't be captain without it so they had no choice!

You probably should build as much time as you can in complex aircraft if possible. Companies like to see you have time in something more complex than a C172. They also like to see actual instrument time and approaches more difficult than ILS's. Night time is another good one. Remember, anyone can fly in the day with no clouds in the sky in a C172. A real pilot can fly in anything.

Ok, so do you know the answer to my wahoo question?

Highly unlikely, which makes it all the more funny!

Captain Wahoo: Yeah, I didn't have to give the cert number but I'm just so damn stoked I got the rating that I decided to add it.

Right now I am pining at the chance of flying something more complex. I'd kill to get some Arrow or C-172RG time but my flight school doesn't have either. Really, the only complex single we have here is a C-182RG. I'd love to log some serious time in that bird but it's $130-something/hr pricetag is too rich for my blood. Right nowI can only afford to fly twice a month, just to stay current/proficent in the C-172!

The school does have a 2003 C-182T but it got badly damaged this summer in a really piss poor landing. Guy porpoised and had a propstrike, then went around and landed. That plane likely won't be coming back online, which sucks.

We might get a PA28-236 Dakota online soon though!

But for now, I'm so stuck.

A 2003 C182 huh? Wow, nice plane to bang up eh? Yeah flying is alot more expensive now than it was when I learned. I, well my parents, used to pay for block time so I can build up hours. They used to buy me 10 hours in a C150 for $150. I worked at Monarch Air Service at MDW so my gas was discounted. Some nights it was what we call a five fingered discount. So I would go all by myself from Midway to Milwaukee to Madison, Midway to Fort Wayne to Indy, Midway to Peoria to Springfield, Midway to Moline to Peoria. I used to leave at 7 at night in the winter, and get home about 2 AM. It was fun, all you'd hear on Chicago Center was the freighters leaving ORD after about 10 PM. I logged so many hours at night. I remember flying from MDW to Moline in my little C150 rental one night, only to get caught in a snowshower that dropped my visibility to about 2 miles.

Ok, so no one can answer my question about the winds at ESC. Ok, I said it was 9 AM in Escanaba, MI, which is 2 miles west of Lake Michigan, winds 270 @ 10, water temp 32, air temp was something like 40 right? What kind of weather would one expect? It would probably be VFR conditions. If the winds switched to 090 @ 10 with cold water and warmer air inland, watch out! Now you're talking 1/2 mile or less visibility. This happens often in the spring up here. The water is still cold but the air starts to warm and when the wind comes off the lake you're in for some heavy fog.

You still have to tell me what certificate you have and what you're planning on doing within the aviation community. Sir.

I currently do not hold any flying certificates Sir Wahoo

But...

I am in pursuit of my BS in Aviation Management. I have just under 2 years left. I am minoring in flight operations and currently taking lessons in a C172. I should have my certificate by this coming summer.

However my goal is to work for a major airline, in operations or management, and make the big $$$.

Actually...I do have 1 certificate...I have been a Paramedic for 12 years in Ct

Well, you have a student certificate right? Don't mess with me punk. I'll ask you another really hard question!

Ok, here's an easy one. You take-off in your C 208 Caravan and begin your climbout. The nose of the airplane starts to yaw in what direction? Why does it do that? And what will you do to stop the yaw?

To the left, due to p-factor and torque.

Adding a little right rudder will correct this
