Last month we introduced a new feature - member of the month. Our first MOTM was Greg; one of our highly dedicated moderators and an awesome team member. This month, we bring you yet another team member who deserves the spotlight for his commitment and hard work - Chris aka Ferihegy.
Hi Chris, how are you doing? Tell us a little bit about yourself I'm Chris, 28 years old and living in Budapest. I'm working at a German company serving a worldwide clientele. My wife also works for a big company. We are now have a small dog, that's why we spend a majority of our time with that little rascal. How did you get started? I saw a Revell LH A321 at a friend's house. First, I thought I'll start collecting these but as I checked one of the local shops, I found those little gems sitting in glass cases - that was around 2002-2003. The seller told me, they've just introduced them - named Herpa 1:500 J - and there will be much more. First I bought 10 or 12, then over 140 from that particular shop. Now I also have 1:400 and 1:200 and not only Herpa... What do you collect? My main target still is 1:500. I just love them, really compact and just fine for a model size. Of course, I have some 1:1000 ones, some 1:400 (I sold them mostly) and a few 1:200. How do you display your collection? At the moment, they are in a corner. I also have a huge car collection, which has priority in this case because of it's size. I can't show all my airplane models at once, which makes me a little sad. In the future, we will be upgrading our furniture and then they will have some place. How did you find out about W9/DA.C? I can't really remember. I only know, that by searching the web, I found W900 once some years ago. Then I left, but returned after a while knowing that W900 is the best place for diecast airplanes. How long have you been a member? Since Feb 2007 (on W900). What do you get out of W900/DA.C? I think W900 and its sister sites are the most comprehensive sites who are dealing with diecast planes, and ONLY with them. We have a great community with members who are giving us useful or funny info almost every day. Then we have the database, which is the only one of that kind and really unique. Do you have a favorite model/series/mfg or something you just gotta have? I love trijets, almost every one but my favorite is the Tristar. I'm still trying to get them all, but it is of course difficult. Then I love Asian carriers and classic liveries. What would you like to see in the future? I think - let's stay at the model front - the market has woken up in the past two years, many forgotten jets and props have been produced, but one or two manufacturers could really improve their moulds...J Chris, thank you for your time and for everything you do to make our community a better place for everyone. Hope you guys enjoyed, see you next month (or this month :) ) The Wings900 Team
