May Newsletter E-mail

Welcome to the second Wings900 family newsletter - as you can see, we've got a new design for the newsletter. And we've got some great new stuff on the site too.

To start with, we've added blogs to Wings900. Anyone who feels like it can now start their own blog on the site, just by going to "Blogs" on the main menu and clicking on "My Blog Dashboard". It's really simple to use and a great way to share your collection with everyone else on the site. All the stuff we previously had in news will now be announced via our own site blog (appearing now on the site's front page) and if you use an RSS reader, there's also an RSS feed you can grab here to get all posts sent direct to you.

We've also cleaned up the menus a little to streamline them and make them easier to use. A couple of things have been re-ordered and "Submit Ticket" and "My Ticket" have been ditched from the Help menu and we've got "Contact Us" instead. We've also gotten rid of "Chat" on the Forums menu and "Links" from the main menu - all the links are still there, we're just going through to make sure they all still work and will be putting up a new links section shortly.

The other big news here is that Gallery Subscriptions have been removed as the gallery service is now FREE! So we'd like to invite everybody to go ahead and add as many images as you like! From June we'll also be making the eBay listing generator free too!

Away from the Wings site itself, we've got a couple of other new things - first up, there's now a Wings900 bookshop on Eclector with a wide selection of aircraft and model aircraft-related books. And secondly, you can now once again display your Wings with pride thanks to our revived W900 Café Press shop with logo T-shirts, license plate frames, clocks, mugs and other great stuff!

Now lets take a look at what's been happening on the sites themselves...

Wings900

In the new Blogs section on Wings900, we've got... well not a huge amount just yet, because we've only just launched it today! However, to make sure we had some good stuff to get going with, we borrowed a few posts from our friends over at Toy Collector, like these great entries on Cubana and the Douglas DC-6.

Chat in the in the General section has covered topics as diverse as retro airhostesses, flying lessons, volcano/plane conflict issues (very timely!) and vacation trvel in an A380.

Over in 1:500, we've had WW news, Herpa's Air Jamaica Express, Niki ERJ-190 and Garuda Indonesia A330-243. In 1:400, we've had the Gemini 1:400 April releases, pics of one man's new 747-8 and a collection milestone... Going slightly bigger, in 1:200, we've had photos of JC Wings Virgin America A320 and Gemini's 1:200 April releases, while on the custom front, the seriously cool member-made models on show have included this Spanair MD-83 EC-FXA and an Adria A320.

Lots in the Review section too, including Herpa's US Airways Airbus A333 in 1:500, Luftwaffe Tu-154M and Ansett Australia B727-277A.

DA.C Talk for April: In 1:400, we had Herpa's Cathay-Pacidic B777-367 in Standard Corporate Livery, and an Avatar-themed Virgin 737 and PHX 346!

Notable 1:200 chat covered rare Russians, Thailand's Royal barge, an Australian Airlines 767-300 project and Herpa's KLM 747 plus the GJ200 in Southwest Canyon Blue.

On the Military front, we had the Lockheed F22 Raptor and a selection of highly aggressive Aggressors in 1/72 while Airport Creations saw this particular diorama get off to a great start...

Scale600 & Toy Collector

Last, but not least, April chat on our smallest-scale forum included more about shopping for 1:600 scale in London, a status update on the new Schuco Schabak Mould 747-400s and a look back at some rare older Schabak models. It wasn't all quiet over on Toy Collector either, as there were more blog posts on Limox, Revell and Socatec!

Hope you enjoy it all and see you next month!
