First Wings900 Family Newsletter E-mail
Sunday, 04 April 2010

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the first Wings900 family newsletter! First up: some news (appropriately enough).

To expand the resources available to our members, the Wings900 family (Wings900.com, DiecastAircraftForum.com, Scale600.com, ModelAirports.net and DiecastWings.net) are announcing the formation of a partnership with Toy Collector (www.ToyCollector.com). The success of our model database, collection system and discussion forums will be expanded in the upcoming months to include new sources for news, users and data.

The Toy Collector mission is to build the ultimate site for collectors the world over - one which combines discussion forums, news (more about Toy Collector's reports on the Nuremberg Toy Fair later), blogs, galleries, videos, competitions and more to provide the most complete collecting experience on the web - no matter if it is toys, models, or diecast. Additionally the site has ToyPedia, an unparalleled wiki-based encyclopedia that will ultimately contain information about every toy and model ever made and a marketplace dedicated to collectibles. The site will also feature a collection management system and filtering technology to allow users to set their site preferences to only see content that is related to their interests. So if all you want to see are 1/500 scale planes or only Boeing 737s, then you'll be able to make that happen!

So take a seat, fasten your seatbelt, and enjoy the ride!

Now let's take a look at what's been happening over the last month...

Wings 900

In the reviews section, our most recent reviews include some great  stuff from Herpa, including the Qantas 747-400, TAM Brasil MD-11 and Rossiya Special Flight Detachment IL-96-300, all in 1:500.

Notable 1:500 forum chat has included discussions about the New Release Herpa Lufthansa A319-114 and S7 Airlines A310-222, as well as one man's luckiest find ever. Over in 1:400, hot topics have been JET-X Products, the Drop Zone Diecast Shop and AeroCla$$ics March releases while 1:200 discussions have featured Aero le Plane models, the Skyline Northwest Airlines Jetstream-31 and a pair of finished customs - a Delta 777 and 757 Salt Lake City 2002.

Speaking of customs, plenty going on over in the Custom Models forum too, including threads on a Spanair MD-83 "Star Alliance", Spirit of Manila Airlines MD-82 and the WMaquetes Custom experience.

DAC

Over on DAC, 1:400 chat featured JC Wings April Releases and the Continental Eco-Skies Jet. In 1:200, we had the Gemini Pan Am L-1011 and the Virgin America A320 (and others) while the 1:500 forum saw the IF 500 March New Releases posted alongside much else including some SQ Model questions.

Notable Military Model Aircraft postings included threads on 1/35 scale J-10 models, current production C-5 Galaxy and the SR-71 Rapid Rabbit, while the New Arrivals Board had plenty more Herpa, including the Luftwaffe A340-300, TAM Brasil A330-223 and Qantas Airways B 747-438.

Scale 600 & Toy Collector

On Scale 600, meanwhile, discussions were had on LinoJets, buying 1:600 models in the US and one particular balsa wood 1:600 model... And Toy Collector featured LaToya's plane-centric reports back from the 2010 Nuremberg Toy Fair, including Herpa Wings' upcoming models, new releases and prototypes, Corgi's 2010 plans, plus more from Socatec, Dragon Wings and much else besides!

Hope you enjoy & see you next month!
