To mark the airline’s 60th anniversary in 2005, TAP Portugal also premiered a new livery. The original of this first Herpa model in the airline’s new livery is the A340-300, registered CS-TOA and named Fernao Mendes Pinto, one of the numerous Portuguese explorers.

| | Mould and Assembly: This model truly recreates the actual TAP Airbus A340 aircraft to the minutest detail. The important parts of the actual aircraft, such as the nose, appear to be scaled down accordingly, and the mould is scaled and reproduced properly. The model's finish is neat and clean. The wings, tail, engine and landing gears appear to fit well on the mould. This A340 model is precisely done and sleek.
Livery: The new TAP livery is modern and simple which suits the sleek lines of the A340. The model's livery is accurate in detail and all elements present on the actual aircraft, such as flags, logos, writing, etc, are recreated in great detail. The print and paint quality are outstanding, giving the model a glossy touch. The colors used on the model vividly match those of the actual aircraft.
Details: The mould is well detailed and all elements present on the actual aircraft seen to be reproduced properly. The simple livery is precise and all details seem to be present. The printed details are excellent, especially the window frames and cargo doors, and the scaling of the details is perfect. The engines of the model are shaped nicely and its colors match those of the actual aircraft. The engines' pylons should have had the darkened area that is present on the actual aircraft's pylons. The landing gears are correctly positioned on the mould and their size and colors are correct.
