 Description
Olympic Airlines is the successor company of the three airlines Olympic Airways, Olympic Aviation and Macedonian Airlines. The original of this model, an ATR-72/200, registered SX-BII stems from the former Aviation fleet and was commissioned with the name “Hippocrates” in April 1993 as one of currently seven examples. Together with six smaller ATR-42s, the short-haul fleet serves the widely scattered islands of the Greek Aegean.

Model Review
Mould and Assembly: The model's assembly appears neat and for the most part true to form. The wings appear to have adequate orientation and detail. The mould's texture and shape appear sleek and proper. However, there are minor issues that may require resolution. This model's nose appears snubbed, giving the impression that something is out of sync with the overall alignment. A problem exists with the tail, which does not appear to follow the inside slope of the aircraft. The forward part of the tail appears inaccurately pitched compromising the overall accuracy of the model.

Livery: Overall, the livery provides a realistic representation. However close inspection reviews minor cosmetic deficiencies. The Olympic logo on the tail appears clumsy and poorly shaped. The logo colors are a vivid match to those used by Olympic Airlines. The cheatline is lighter than it should be. The cockpit windows stand back too far and are not high enough.

Details: The windows and doors are well represented and they are positioned correctly. The engines appear better than passible. Narrower propers however would be a plus. The rear landing gear is well placed and accurate in its detail. The front landing gear however, could have been better executed. They appear longer than neccesary and are lacking its doors.

Pluses
  Generally nice mould work.
Accurate placement of windows and doors.

Minuses
Misshapen nose and front landing gear.
Minor color discrepancies.

Olympic Airlines ATR-72 1:500 by Herpa. This model is nicely done for its size but flaws in detail detract from the overall effectiveness.
