Model Review
Mould and Assembly: Does the model I am reviewing here look like a MD-11? Yes, of course it does. But is it a good replica? No, it is not. The wings are clearly seperate from the fuselage, the engines on the wings are...strange and a scaling issue: the paint on the model is too thick. When you paint something this small, the paint will pile up on the spots it is applied on. All these things make the model look like a toy.

Livery: The livery is red, for most part of it. That's good. I like red. But apart from that, it just isn't really exciting...

Details: Details on a small scale are tiny details on small parts. The worst and most striking detail on this model is it's gear. I know, on this scale it is hard to make a realistic gear, but my opinion is: if you can't make it good, don't make it. Further, as I already remarked: the paint puts on a visible layer. Not very realistic.

Let's first say that it is great to see Herpa try to explore new things in modelmaking. It must be really difficult to create a model this small. However, I personally think the 1/1000 scale is not the way to go. Technically it is not yet possible to create realistic models in this scale. Maybe in a few years it will be possible to match the quality of the 1/500 scale, with realistic gears, detailed wings and tails, flat paint etc. Then it could be interesting, now it just isn't good enough.

A second point: The fantasy models are a concept I don't really appreciate (I might be the wrong reviewer for this model). If you just look at the livery, I do not see anything interesting. It is red.

I know, it was free and limited, so no-one can complain. However, I have to review the model itself and not the way it was released and marketed. So, there you are.
