Kavkazkie Mineralnye Vody, or Kavminvodyavia for short, is what KMV stands for, the airline that sprang from the Aeroflot directorate of the Russian Stavropol region in 1991 with headquarters in Mineralny Wody. Besides two modern TU-204s, the airline also operates seven TU-154s, among them the original of this model registered RA-85764.

| | Mould and Assembly: The TU-154 has become - as many other "eastern things" - more and more a well-searched model. People want to see these classic trijets along with other ones which flew in the soviet era (till now - this should be added!) and Herpa comes up with this nice bird. Nice, because (we have to say that Herpa is lucky that no one has brought out another TU154 mould!) it is all in all a better mould from the manufacturer. The TU-154 has a design which could AND should be noticed from far away. I think Herpa has done its homework and I CAN really mark this mould as this russian beauty. There are some minuses of course like the nose section which is just a little bit too long (although it is far better now than on the first TU-154 releases)
Livery: The livery is a point where Herpa could sum up some points when other details are bad. As usual, Herpa found almost the right colors, the right nuances, perhaps just a little bit too bright. But not really outstandingly different, so Herpa gets away with it. I see only one bigger problem: the nuance of the tail logo, which should be more golden/orange I my eyes. It is now some sort of bright yellow.
Details: What can we say? The same story as normally Herpa should be faced with - lack of details, and THIS time not a perfect finish according to the cheatline. It is - together with the windows and doors - a bit too high, in reality it should be almost in the middle of the fuselage. This leads to the next problem: the cockpit windows are also too high and that's why they aren't sitting at their right place on the mould - which gives them a bad design at all. The last one I would underline are the wheels/gears and the undercarriege. Not too many details on them and the tires are the "standard" ones Herpa is using.
