Description

Kaliningradavia stems from Aeroflot’s former Kaliningrad directorate, which until 1945 was Königsberg in Imperial German East Prussia. The airline operates a fleet consisting solely of Boeing 737s, to which the original of this model novelty, registered EI-DJR also belongs.
So a 1:400 737 from Herpa? Due to the current situation in the market (more or less saturation), Let's see if the Herpa 737 can hold its own.

| | Mould and Assembly: Well, looking at the mould, there are some nice things to say about it.... and some not so nice. Compared to the 1:500 737s, this mould is pretty good - when it comes to the nose section - no more sharpened pencil look. Moving back, the wings are attached directly to the fuselage - no huge slots here - and it is very nice. The wings look good, but the huge and thick engine pylons really need to be reworked - they are too thick and too fat. The model seems to lean forward a bot and this is a distraction. The Wings have nice details, but the mould looks a little tired and it could be crisper.
The tail section takes after its smaller counterpart and is a little too thick. the vertical stabilizer has an unacceptable gap too which was quite a surprise.
Livery: The livery is - well - let's take a look from the dront back. the nose section is OK, but the blue section is too thin compared to the real livery after it passes the pax doors. The line is not as crisp and distinct as it should be as well. the KLD is fine. The engine livery is off as well w- it should be a little more curved instead of being a straight angle from the bottom of the engine. The star on the fuselage/Vertical stabilizer is worth noting - for its discoloration. It seems as if the yellow on the fuselage is printed on the blue, whereas the yellow on the stabilizer is not - thus ending up with a color mismatch. Not only that, but the livery surrounding the APU is way off.
Nice touch coloring the wheel hubs blue and I though it was a problem until I looked at the pics on the web.
Details: The details are here - but a little bit less than expected - but they are and credit should be given when due. But then again, at this scale, we are expecting a little more. The engines, albeit really nice - are missing the flange - which Herpa has on its 1:500 scale engines (go figure) There are no lights on op, the probes and fire escapes are not reproduced. We did get an APU on this model which is to be expected.
