Description

This model of HC-CDJ is the first AeroGal model made for the 1:500 market and if its anything like the Gemini Jets version then it's bound to be a beauty. The aircraft that bears this registration also served for Continental back in the late '80s under a different registration and it has to be said that she looks alot better in the blue and white of AeroGal compared to the pinky-orange and white of Continental, back then.

| | Mould and Assembly: When looking at the Herpa website version of this model, you can tell something doesn't look right. It's the tail. When you look at the same model on Herpa's website, you can see a clear gap, where the tail does not meet the fuselage. In this version, (see photo's attached), the tail completely meets the fuslage. Considering there have been many other Boeing 727 releases from Herpa, I reckon this was down to that one being a quick model put together to show everyone what the final product would look like. The seam between the fuslage and the wings is still very much visible depending on the angle you look at it, but one thing I have noticed is that Herpa has been trying to make less visible with every release. The Boeing 727-200 mould itself is very good and almost looks prefect. The nose is somewhat the wrong shape however and they could do with sorting it out. Finally, it looks like the model is sitting very high compared to the real aircraft.
Livery: In my opinion AeroGal has one of the nicest liveries in South America and I think they picked the right one to mimic on a model. The livery that is on this model is the normal livery. They did a livery that included other animals the aircraft The livery is well positioned on the model. The iguanas situated on eitherside of the tail are correctly placed. However, the lizards that are situated on top of the airlines name down each side are slightly big and take up too much room and cover more than they're supposed to. The name seems to be the correct size though. The birds situated further down the fuselage are correctly placed and are the right size compared to the real aircraft. The registration and aircraft name are also of the correct size and in the location they should be.
Details: Apart from the cockpit looking out of place and not fitting with the nose portion of the aircraft, there isn't much to comment on. The doors at the front and back of the aircraft look in the place, and the two over wing emergency exits are all correctly placed. The lights are painted on using red and green paints to create dots. Unfortunately, Herpa models are still missing the pylons and attenna that we want to see on these models.
