 Description
Lufthansa Cargo is the direct successor company of the former German Cargo Services, which was founded in 1977 as a freight charter subsidiary of Lufthansa. Five DC-8-73Fs were purchased from the US-owned Flying Tigers and – after a radical reorganization of the Lufthansa organization - added to the fleet of the newly founded Lufthansa Cargo. The original of this new model with the registration D-ADUE was manufactured for Flying Tigers in 1963. The model will be released in a limited edition.

Model Review
Mould and Assembly: Herpa released this long-awaited DC8 in the final 70-s freighter series. The DC8 form is - also because of its age - a more simple design to recreate, so the mould can be seen as a well-done work, but not the best on the market (there were made a few long DC8s some years ago which are all in all better!). Nothing special to mention, the form, the wings and the engines sitting on their place, so collectors can be happy in combination with this livery!

Livery: The LH colors are just fine, logos and registrations are well-placed. The livery is quite simple, Herpa's match of colors is also here beautiful. Smaller parts like details on the wings f.e. are missing.

Details: Not the best work by Herpa. You see some details like cargo doors, but no details on engines, wings or whatsoever parts of the mould. However two things to improve:
The cockpit window is also some sort of missplaced, looks like on a previous NG mould.
The gears are too high. If you compare the 73 to the smaller DC8s (40/50s) series, the front - and partially the rear - gear section shows an unnormal highness of the mould. Herpa needs to do some afterwork.
