Model Review
Mould and Assembly: I'm sure one of my previous reviews was a 1:500 model similar to the A319-100, and I seem to remember commenting on how the mould didn't seem to show any signs of seams and how it looked perfect to the eye. This however is very different for this model. On both sides of the model you can the seams which connect the main fuselage to the gear section. The tail also seems to be "disconnected" and doesn't look like its well made. It looks quite poorly designed and made. The only thing you can hope for is that some different models from this production run are different and at least offer some hope to looking good.

Livery: When Herpa released their sample model, they made one of the most embarrasing and obvious mistakes i've seen so far in model collecting. Running down both sides of the aircraft are the words "Sleep Well. Live Well." Their sample model came with a missing letter "S eep Well. Live Well." Luckily this mistake was noticed and the main production run now has the correct titles. Apart from this mistake, the livery is actually pretty good. The colours are very close and I don't think they've done a bad job on it. The livery and titles on the tail also look pretty well done.

Details: One of the most distinctive details of any Herpa models, especially in 1:500, is that they create grey cockpit windows, sometimes with frames, sometimes without. Here it seems they have done them without, and for me it just doesn't work. It looks awful, mainly due to the pink and the blue. It just doesn't seem to go. Personally speaking it would look better with either grey or silver window frames and black windows to show the cockpit windows. This is just a personal preference though, and other opinions may differ. Apart from that, everything looks good. The German flag and registration look perfectly placed and in the right colours. Doors and windows all stand out and look right althought the emergency doors above the wings look a little difficult to see.

It isn't too bad a model and would be worth getting to add to your German and Germanwings fleets. However, should a better version come out, I would do a swap imediately as I believe this model could have been done better.
