Boeing B 767-330ER

1:400

Introduction

The Boeing 767-300 with the registration D-ABUB is the first Herpa model with the current Condor livery. Especially senior classicists of the scene will remember this registration. Condor used for its 757-300s and 767- 300s the expired registrations of Lufthansa’s former 707 fleet.

The Model

Thomas Cook has taken over the Condor brand and with that comes this livery that seems to have finally been introduced to the Condor fleet. Herpa has introduced the 767-300 mould with a handful of releases and I must say that it is one of the best 767 moulds in the industry and is on par with the AC/BB 767 mould. As you can see the nose is moulded very well and the overall fuselage dimension is also well done. The rear of the fuselage begins its upslope at the correct part of the aircraft

The first thing that I really noticed was the now blue Condor titles compared to the previous yellow scheme. I believe it looks more sophisticated and stands out nicely. The Condor titles are placed in the correct spot in correspondence with the window line and the foward cargo door is correctly placed below the N in Condor. The wings come with the window frames as represented on all of the Herpa 1:400 line of models and the doors include the standard details such as door handles.

An important part to the 767 fuselage is how the rear of the fuselage slopes downward as the bottom part slops upward. Herpa has correct represented this and has correctly moulded the vertical stabalizer. All of the stabalizers are made of metal which avoids any light going through them. As you can see there is some pixelation with the dark blue and lighter blue colors but it is very minimal and hard to notice. Herpa has correctly placed the Thomas Cook lol with the tail number clearly printed on the top.

The lower belly is printed in a lighter blue grey color as it is on the actual aircraft. All of the cargo doors are correctly placed on the aircraft. The registration is clearly printed and lines up with the window line and does the www.condor.com titles abvoe the window line. As you can see the gears are well done and correctly placed with the tail number once again being represented on the nose gear door with the addtional red stripe detail on it.

This model is fully seamless as the wings connect directly into the side of the fuselage which is a major plus in my opinion. The wings are fully made of metal and are true the actual aircraft. The pylons are made as a seperate plastic part from the wings which is a nice added feature as like the Dragon Wings models they are able to match engine and pylon. This engine is the Pratt & Whitney series of engines and is correctly represtned on the model and includes the details on the engine cowling and the two tone exaust.

Final Thoughts

Overall the mould is superb. The mdoel has plenty of details and stacks up to the AC/BB mould and is better then the Gemini and Dragon wings mould in my opinion. While the livery may not be one for everyone I've always been a fan of smaller European Airlines and this Condor finds a new home in my collection.
