Wings900 Announces all new Model Database and My Collection Features! |

The entire Wings900 team is proud to introduce our
updated Model Database and My Collection system. After 3 months of hard
work it has come down to this day! Highlights of the improved system
include:
- Complete Database Refresh - Every model has been updated with the latest information
- All new Airline Logos - All models now feature time-period appropriate logos!
- Trade
Manager with eBay system - Follow the models you have marked for sale,
make an eBay listing, and even find models for sale by other members!
- Ajax system for quicker updates with out extra page loads
- Improved sorting and preferences
- Database optimization for faster access
The
entire feature and bug fix list is below. We think you'll find the new
system above and beyond what we had before. But as always, we want to
know more of what we can do and if you find any bugs with the new
system.

General
- Facelift – New colors cheme, freshened up the look
- Improved Graphics/Icons – On all pages
- General Clean Up and Firefox Bugs - General HTML clean up, fixed HTML display issues in FireFox
- Database Optimization – All database queries reviewed, added indexes in db to optimize searches and speed
- Ease of use – Utilizing AJAX technology, re-coded pages to easier to use, less confusing and faster loading.
- Improved Graphs & Charts – Utilizing AJAX, charts now update with out refreshing the page. Updated colors, fresh look
- Portability – Code re-worked to allow system to be ported to other websites with ease
- Help Files - All new help files for both the database and my collection.
Model Database
- Model Classification -
Added Classification of each aircraft – Military, Civilian, or Private.
Classification displayed in model detail view and selectable during
searches
- Root Aircraft Search - Can now search on root aircraft (ie: B737, A320, etc.)
- Logos - Models
are now connected to AirlineLogos.net – this means that the models no
longer have generic logos; instead each model has been matched up with
the airline logo from that time period.
- Alt Text on logos – As per user request, applies to airline and manufacturer logos
- Model Detail View Enhancements
- Improved the look with new colors, minor layout changes
- New icons
- Color coded continent maps
- Linked aircraft registration to ATDB.org
- Model dimensions (cm & inches),
- Automatic Trade Finder (displays Yes if a user is selling the model)
- Improved price scatter graph showing colors for below, within and above average prices.
- Next Model Link -For models in a set this link will take you to the next model in the set
- Interactive Scale Chart – User controlled scale chart with 3 sizes, organized by first letter of aircraft make
- No Photo Search Results - Changed the red X in thumbnail column to no photo image
- Link to Trade & Preferred Retailers –
“Buy Now” removed, replaced by Find Trades (searches users trading
models) and Find Retailer (brings up link to preferred retailers)
My Collection
- Collection Manager
- Delete Confirmation - Confirm/cancel dialog box when attempting to delete a model from your collection.
- Sample Warning - Pop-up
window for adding "sample models" to my collection. Warning that this
is a sample and you should most likely add the real model to your
collection and not the sample.
- Postage Fees - Ability to enter postage fees for models.
- Quick Change – Clicking the private or trade icons in the Other column will change those selections with out going into edit model.
- Quick Sort - Click collection table headers to quick sort on those columns
- Four Sort Levels - Added 2 additional sort levels for view and print – Set in your preferences
- Edit Model
- Duplicate Model - Duplicate entry button in Edit Model Screen – creates copy of model in your collection
- Improved Update –
After pressing update, the system will now send your information to the
server with out leaving the page. You can then edit again, or go back
to your collection.
- Custom Manager
- Custom Model Logo Select – You can snow select a custom logo for any custom model. Connected directly to AirlineLogos.net

- Wishlist Manager
- Quick Change – Clicking the private or trade icons in the Other column will change those selections with out going into edit model.

- Want List Models Edit
- Want List Model Logo Select – You can snow select a custom logo for any Want List model. Connected directly to AirlineLogos.net
- Preferences
- Collection Pagination – Number of models per page to display in collection manager is configurable
- Private & Trade Switches –Turns on/off the Quick Edit icons for public/trade in collection manager
- Trades in Collection List –Turns on/off models marked as trade to show in collection manager
- Expanded Preferences - Ability to turn off columns (Sell, Other, Value Difference, Postage & more.
- Preferences Page – Improved and expanded help text
- Improved Update –

- View Other Collections/Wishlist/Trades
- Improved Other Collections Listing Page– One single page to display data about other users, and links to their collections, wish/wants and trade lists
- View by first letter, then paginated results.
- View Trades
– View models available for sale and trade by a specific user. A
detailed page will follow showing – shows model information, prices,
and automatic messaging to contact the user.
- Improved Users Collection - Paginated public view of collection, page size selectable on the fly.
- Improved Users Wishlist - Paginated public view of wishlist, page size selectable on the fly.
- Trade Manager – Manage models, prices and details of models that you have marked for trade or sale
- Asking Price - Add "asking price" when editing a model - this is the price you want for the model
- Generate Trade List– Auto Generate list of models and prices you want to trade/sell
- AutoPost Trade List to Wings900 Forums– Posts your trade list to the forums, list auto-updates based on you adding/removing models from trade manager.
- AutoPost Trade List to DAC Forums– Posts
your trade list to the forums, list auto-updates based on you
adding/removing models from trade manager (Note: a valid DAC account is
required and you must be logged into Wings900 and DAC with the same
browser for this to function)

- Post to Wings900 Auctions– Assisted posting to Wings900 Auctions
- Private Display – Displays grey unlock of not private, colored lock if private. Models marked as private will not show in public view of Trade List.
- Quick Change – Clicking the private or trade icons in the Private/Trade Column will change those selections with out going into edit model.
- eBay Description System–
Creates eBay descriptions based on the models you are selling. These
descriptions can then be pasted into eBay when creating a listing.
- Automatically creates a description similar to that of the database model detail view for posting into eBay.
- Ability to add your own general information or
- 20 free descriptions per year
- Can select stand, condition, box included, etc.
