Sheremetyevo Airport was built as the chief aerodrome for the Soviet Army’s air force. The construction process was difficult. The first servicemen at the construction site lived in tents, built their own barracks, and simultaneously cut a clearing in the woods for the future runway and access railways. The living conditions were tough, there were no roads, and the work continued day and night.
Hi Guys, I came across this awesome A380 on http://www.thebrickman.com/; built by TheBrickman. I got in touch with him so we could show you his amazing work. Check out some of the photos; pay attention to the details. It's absolutely wonderful.
Lufthansa owes its origins to Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft which was a merger between Deutsche Aero Lloyd (DAL) and Junkers Lurfverkehr and was founded in Berlin in 1926. The name Lufthansa has been used since 1933. The company was to inherit its “Crane” logo from DAL. The stylised crane created by Otto Firle is still used today.
Within Wunderland's Alps, an airport of 60 square meters is planned with every technical feature possible (Car System with supply vehicles, fire engines and the airplanes themselves). The airport will for sure be the largest model airport in the world, where many different airplanes (from A 380 to Cessna) will operate. The technology for the starting and landing process hasn't been completely developed yet. However, the development was started in May 2004 and we are working very hard to ensure that we may soon open this area. Meanwhile, the first terminals are built, the benchwork is partly up, and the first planes and vehicles are built and painted. Moreover, some technical components have been developed, built, and currently undergo thorough test runs on a special test layout. Planes can already be run computer-controlled along the taxiways, as does a pushback vehicle and the first airport bus. The first test runs for the start- and landing system are scheduled for the upcoming weeks. The Status quo is documented with the pictures below.
Cubana, the airline of the socialist island state of Cuba, was founded by the US American North American Aviation in 1929, and belonged to Juan Trippe's Pan Am empire from 1932 until 1954. With Fidel Castro's Cuban revolution in 1959, however, the American co-production was over. In fact, the airline has suffered heavily from an economic embargo imposed by the USA, making the operation of desperately needed modern airplanes almost impossible.
