 Description
Herpa States:With the special livery “Willkommen zum Fußball” (Welcome to soccer), dba’s 737-35B, registration D-AGEK promoted this year’s Soccer World Cup in Germany. Since 17 August 2006 has the dba been directed by its competitor Air Berlin, who took over the ”low cost airline“. One of the classic moulds from one of the classic Herpa airlines (remember all those Deutsche BA models?) Let's take a look at the special livery of an airline that has disappeared from the skies in Germany.

Model Review
Mould and Assembly: Well, what can I say about this mould? Well, if I can't say anything nice, then I should just stop now.

Up until the advent of the NG gear, the Herpa 737 moulds were adequate at best. Today they qualify as the moulds Herpa needs to change next, as they are just not meeting collector's expectations. For starters, the nose looks more like a sharpened pencil rather than the nose of a 737. The gear doors, at times way too thick, for some reason have almost disappeared and are way too small. The position of the gear is a little bit too far back as well. The entire tail section is too thick and fat. the engine pylons are way too thick and way too big as well. And the engines are alos a little off, as the cowling seems to slant forward a bit too much.

The assembly is fine with acceptable wing root gaps. The rest is just fine, with the gears and engines all lined up and looking good.

Livery: Besides being too high up on the fuselage, the livery is well done here. The DBA looks nice on the tail and the Wilkommen Zum Fussball is nicely reproduced.

The Puma ad is also OK, with the colors and design nicely done.

Just a couple of questions... why are the doors green? And is the real registration in italics?

Details: The details on this model are both good and bad - for example, the engine flange is nice, dark inlets and an APU. The doors look plain, but there is not much else they could add on to give the doors more detail. The Fly DBA on the engine in nice as well. However, the level of detail is simply the standard level of detail for Herpa's 1:500 product line.

This model is an interesting combination of a rare and unique livery put on a classic mould that is begging to be replaced. Honestly, if you need the livery and need another DBA plane in the fleet, don't hesitate to hunt this one down. However, if you are looking for a good model, you may want to look elsewhere. There are just too many issues with the mould.
