 Description
Herpa States: Since 2004, Lufthansa has been operating its own A330-300Xs primarily on routes to the US East Coast, Africa and Middle East. The first of today 16 machines was in use since March 2004. The original of this model with the registration D-AIKA “Minden”. A classic model with a classic livery from a classic airline. Is it worth getting?

Model Review
Mould and Assembly: For the 1:200 scale collection, there is not much to be said about the assembly, except when it is bad (loose stabilizers, obvious fitting problems and so on). This model is no exception to the high quality assembly we have come to expect from Herpa.

The nose section of this mould is OK. Moving on back, the wing root could use a little bit more attention to the small details. The wings look good with crisp details. the engine pylons, even if they are details are way too thin and pointy. And why do the engine look like 737 CFMs? I mean the flattened our inlet is a little strange. The tail section looks good and the vertical stabilizer has the details it requires

Livery: Well, what can one say about this livery? the lettering is spot on and is positioned correctly. The gray belly looks good and no comments about it.

The stabilizer also looks good. Sorry folks, but not much else to say about the livery.

Details: Details are one of the main reasons we like 1:200 scale models. And this plane has plenty. The doors, the logo (looks a little but big there) the registration, the cargo doors, the pax windows (regular and plugged), APU, horizontal stabilizer plates are all there. And things like the front gear door details and reg are pure joy.

There could be some additional details as well.... the strobe lights and pitot probes along with the rain gutters.

The engine details, although nice, could also be improved as well.

Although it has everything I like - details, cool scale and a decent mould, the bland livery just does not appeal to me. Although this model is sold out, if you are a die-hard Lufthansa fan, then this model is a good one to get. And I'm still wondering about those 737 engines....
