| Model Review
| | Mould and Assembly: We've reviewed other 1:200 ATR-72s in the past and there is no sense in re-hashing what we've already said, so here is an excerpt from a previous review: :To start with the nose of the model is very well done with the strakes on the nose printed on the model which is one of the many details that are printed on this model. The overall dimensions of the fuselage is nearly spot on. The rear of the fuselage slopes up correctly and ends with the clear plastic tail light at the read of the fuselage. The wings connect to the fuselage as a seperate piece and are also well moulded with the engine pylons as a seperate piece which connect smoothly into the wings." I will say that the wing root gap is good, but if I had to mark any negatives on this model I would say that possibly the wing root gap could be minimized, or eliminated with a slightly different design.
Livery: The TransAsia livery is quite simple. A mostly white fuselage with 3 stripes across the top and a red tail with the dragon logo. Starting on the fuselage we find that Herpa as done a superior job in the placement of the livery pieces - near perfection! The logo on the tail may be a bit too small and the gold may be a bit too metallic - otherwise its perfect!
Details: Herpa's 1:200 models are now sporting some wonderful details - and while the plastic 1:200s still need some tweaking; this being diecast has even more! From the antennas coming up right through the fuselage to the clear plastic "lights". A++! We did mention the following in another review: "The only one minor detail that Herpa hasn't quite done correctly is the doors should be multicolored depending on their background color between a white and grey color..." This holds true on this model as well. One thing we did notice is that due to the weight of this model, the rolling rubber tires being to flatten out over time - Just like the real thing!
