Herpa States: "In 1965, no less than 34 Boeing 727-31 were ordered by the booming Trans World Airlines for its shorter domestic routes. The original of this model with the registration N839TW was delivered in June 1965, and was still flying for TWA 30 years later."

| Model Review
| | Mould and Assembly: Herpa's 727s have gone through numerous changes over the years and I was excited to see what this TWA would bring to the model community. The wing root gap is non-existant thanks to a new method for attaching the wings - similar to other 1:400 manufactures. The tail section is sadly made from plastic - and being white it has a very translucent look; taking away to the quality feel of the model. It may just be me, but the engine intake on the tail seems too high as well. Landing gears are acceptable.
Livery: The TWA livery is close to perfect- color match is dead on as is the location of the print.
Details: We get some additional details here that we don't always see from Herpa - landing lights on the wings, cockpit frames, engine details, exit path, etc. However when compared to other 727-100 models from other manufactures, the details and the realism of this model pale in comparison.
