Really Cool!, Tuesday, 06 May 2008

With just a couple of things that need correcting (most importantly the tail engine inlet) this model is really cool. A classic livery of a classic plane of a classic American airline. Just too cool not to check out and you won't want to miss this one if you are into Mad Dogs.

Interesting model but..., Monday, 05 May 2008

With some mould issues that can be easily overlooked, this model is a pretty neat addition to Herpa's growing catalog of metal 1:200 scale models. The livery issue (color) should also be easy to overlook. But I can't stop thinking that in order to turn this model into a great model one has to do just that though - forget about its shortcomings. Don't let that stop you though, a retro livery and an airplane that have disappeared from the sky are always worth looking at.

A big plane for those who have room to display it, Wednesday, 16 April 2008

A huge model. Make sure you have room for it and the box. Even if it is a pseudo-fantasy model as one has not entered service yet, the level of detail along with the accuracy of the details/livery/gear do make this a nice model.

Interesting livery..... but, Monday, 14 April 2008

It seems that the small problems did add up rather quickly. An interesting airplane and a cool livery to boot. This model is worth a look, but it is not one of Herpa's best effort in this domain.

A Really Cool Plane From Another Time, Sunday, 06 April 2008

A really nice bird from another century. If you are into prop liners or Continental, this one will make a nice centerpiece of any display. Although prone to a little discoloration, this model is really a nice reproduction of a classic airliner in classic colors from a classic era.

A nice model but a few shortcomings, Thursday, 03 April 2008

A good model in a scale we can appreciate. Even if the mould and assembly are OK, the lack of specific details such as the pax stairwell for a model of this scale is simply too much. The real metal seems to discolor a bit, but the livery, wings, and other parts of the model are pretty nice.

If you like Caravelles and large models, this is a nice one with a decent value for money. You may find better, but it is still a good model.

A Yellow Bullet... which almost hits the bullseye, Sunday, 30 March 2008

With a yellow that doesn't look good, a mould with some issues (albeit other issues than the other 737s) and the round engines, this model will raise a couple of eyebrows among collectors. With a standard level of detail (much better today than before) and a euroYellow livery, the fact that this model is an in-flight release and overall a decent model may make it worth your while. You won't go out of your way for this model, but you should also take a look if you get the chance.

A Real "Inflight" Model, Saturday, 29 March 2008

I have to give this model a 10 for the overall impression becasue I just think this model is cool. Although it is not perfect and it is officially a fantasy model until the real Continental 787 is delivered and flying, I like it very much. If you need one for your airport, get the #505352. But if you want one for the display case or simply for your desk, you can't go wrong with this model.

Interesting livery but a tired mould, Saturday, 29 March 2008

This model is an interesting combination of a rare and unique livery put on a classic mould that is begging to be replaced. Honestly, if you need the livery and need another DBA plane in the fleet, don't hesitate to hunt this one down. However, if you are looking for a good model, you may want to look elsewhere. There are just too many issues with the mould.

  A rare Bird, Wednesday, 26 March 2008

A nice rare bird that is a nice addition to any collection. The cool livery makes up for the minor mould or detail shortcomings. It would be nice to see these come out as regular release models so more collectors could appreciate the work that went into making this model.

It is good - not spectacular knock-my-socks-off model and if you like the livery it is worth the hunt. Good luck!
