Steady improvement, but we're not there yet., Sunday, 20 December 2009
On first sight, this model looks really good. But in the details it lacks quality. Sure, the "new generation IV" is a huge improvement from the old generation A320-mould, but there are still some improvements to be made. Problems concerning the mould, livery transition and specific details can and should be corrected in the future.
Cleopatra's nose (strange, but nice), Saturday, 19 December 2009
Every time I look at this model (it is in my private collection), I wonder about the nose. Is it right? Is it wrong? It is intriguing. Anyway... A very, very nice model that should not be missed by the KLM-collector or any other collector for that matter. Good scaling, nice details, great mould. If this is the future of modelmaking at Herpa Wings, I will stay a regular customer, and I predict that we can expect a lot more great things.
Good work from Herpa, not a nice model, Sunday, 04 October 2009
Although Herpa has done a great job in scaling-down this aircraft, it isn't a great model. If we just forget the mould errors for the A319, the livery does not appeal. This is a special livery that Herpa should have let go by. There are much more better looking liveries that deserve the attention and craftmanship from the Herpa factories.
Very good replica, Sunday, 27 September 2009
I think this model is a very good replica of the original. In details, mould and livery miniaturization it is perfect. I personally do not always like the white-based liveries very much, although this is a pretty interesting one. The only reason for me not to by this one, is the amount of white. But that's only personal and it has nothing to do with the craftmanship of Herpa. Buy it if you want it, it is certainly worth it!
Old mould ruins it, Monday, 21 September 2009
This could be a really nice release of a special small airline. It has an interesting livery and the plane has a collectors vibe to it. But the wrong mould (too long fuselage) and the history it carries (old gears, cockpit windows) makes this not a very appealing model. For me, it has too many flaws to really want it.
Three nice historic models, Friday, 03 July 2009
Three nice historic models, good mould and enough detailing. There are some small issues that could be better, but in total it is very much worth getting. If you like diorama's, that is. I can understand the dioramabuilding by people as a hobby, but these prefab diorama's from Herpa have to fit all your needs at once if you have to pay this much for it. What i really do not understand is the sound button. I personally think it is a bit childish to push that button and listen to some sounds while looking at your prefab-diorama.
Not for me, Sunday, 21 June 2009
Let's first say that it is great to see Herpa try to explore new things in modelmaking. It must be really difficult to create a model this small. However, I personally think the 1/1000 scale is not the way to go. Technically it is not yet possible to create realistic models in this scale. Maybe in a few years it will be possible to match the quality of the 1/500 scale, with realistic gears, detailed wings and tails, flat paint etc. Then it could be interesting, now it just isn't good enough. A second point: The fantasy models are a concept I don't really appreciate (I might be the wrong reviewer for this model). If you just look at the livery, I do not see anything interesting. It is red. I know, it was free and limited, so no-one can complain. However, I have to review the model itself and not the way it was released and marketed. So, there you are.
A model in transition, Saturday, 02 May 2009
A very nice and welcome new mould from Herpa. They have really done a fine job. The livery (althoug a bit simple) is historically interesting, just at the starting point of British Airways. Small remark: maybe Herpa could try to cast the models out of one piece, so we do not have the seams between the wings and the fuselage.
If you like fantasy..., Saturday, 02 May 2009
Coloured by my own preferences, but I don't like this model. Even if you like the fantasy and Christmas models, I think it is a bit too simple. Not much details, a simple livery design. Maybe others like that. I don't.
Good old yellow, Sunday, 22 March 2009
A very nice model and a great new mould. Personally, I have seen the DHL colours and I would like to see some other cargo-airlines. It is not a difficult livery to make. Herpa did do a very good job at this model, but it is nothing special. It is just good, as we can expect from Herpa. Results 1 - 10 of 16
