I sit here writing this column for the first time just as the leaves outside my New England home are changing...and I think how the green leaves so quickly make way for orange, and then to brown. Such is the cycle of the seasons...and such is the cycle of other things...
Why do I speak of changing leaves, so off-topic for a Model Aircraft collecting column? The fact of the matter is that Wings 500 as it is known today will be going through extensive changes over the next few months. As many of you know, Andy Andresen, the creator and webmaster, or more appropriately, the "Captain" of this site for 3 years, is leaving...Behind he leaves Wings500, the original site for collectors of die-cast aircraft.
A new Flight Crew is currently being trained to take Wings 500 to new heights and serve the collectors community with the most up-to-date news, information, and reviews. Wings500 will no longer be a one-man-show, instead six to eight individuals will maintain the site, keeping it fresh with new and interesting material.
A lot has changed since Wings500 first took flight three years ago...the new site will 100% free and support all makes and scales of the collecting community. We are currently working on a new design, logos, interviews, and more. And the forums are being re-organized to better serve our visitors.
We do ask for your patience during the transition to the new Wings500...it will take some time. However, while the leaves out my window fall to the ground on these cool evenings, Wings500 will continue to rise.
